Hyderabad: As the city witnessed the inauguration of two major events on Tuesday, the residents were in for a shock by the unusually clean and well-maintained roads in old city. The police were actively checking the vehicles travelling towards Charminar and further.
Vehicle checking was going on at several key points including Gosha Mahal, Darul Shafa and other places. The foot paths were clean and most of the encroachments were removed.
The otherwise crowded lanes of Shah Ali Banda and Shamsheer Gunj were not crowded, thanks to the Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES) and the inauguration of Hyderabad Metro Rail.
People were surprised to see no crowd surrounding the area of Charminar as the push cart vendors were seen standing on the corners of road unlike occupying the entire road up to the divider.
The view enthralled people travelling on this route. As part of the beautification measures, the roads leading to Falaknuma Palace were re-carpeted and dividers were repaired.
The traffic movement was also easy the entire day. Muzaffar Ahmed, a resident of Shah Ali Banda, said that it was good to see the city donning a pleasant look. He said that this kind of ambience in old city is rare and we need this to persist.
The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) ground workers put in extra efforts for the beautification of old city. Many prominent roads in the city were cleaned and beautified.Tight security arrangements were put in place across the Falaknuma Palace.
Rythu Bazar near the palace was closed for people as the delegates were to attend a dinner in the Palace hosted by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
