Hyderabad: The mini-buses of TSRTC had to be kept aside and private mini-buses were arranged by the RTA officials at the last minute for providing commutation to the delegates attending the GES, which was being attended by Ivanka Trump, the advisor to President of the USA Donald Trump.

According to sources, the transport committee of the Global Entrepreneurs Summit had asked the RTA officials to replace the mini-buses of RTC as they felt that the narrow and congested seats in these buses would cause inconvenience to the delegates attending the Summit. With a new request from the committee, the RTA had to search for private a/c mini-buses to the event. The RTA officials have been entrusted the task of providing vehicles to the 1500 delegates attending the GES and senior officials were assigned the work for seamless travel to the venue and their places of accommodation.

The RTA officials deployed three RTA officials at the venue to provide the transport arrangements. With the transport committee wanting to replace the RTC’s mini-buses, the RTA had to maneuver from the private bus operators. The committee was of the view that the seats were too narrow to seat and hence wanted replacement.

A senior official told The Hans India that the department had provided 200 Innova vehicles and 45 A/c mini buses for the convenience of the delegates attending the GES. Apart from the Innova and mini buses, the TSRTC provided 60 A/c Multi Axis Volvo buses and the State Tourism Department provided 10 Volvo A/c buses. The Joint Transport Commissioner J Pandurang Naik supervised the allotment of the mini-buses.

The transport services were affected on Monday and also to some extent on Tuesday with the officials overseeing the arrangements of transportation to the GES. Several vehicle owners had to leave without their work done because of the non-availability of officials. Speaking to The Hans India here on Tuesday, JTC Pandurang Naik said that the transport department officials fulfilled the task of providing commutation to the delegates.

The officials would now be concentrating on their regular work. Replying to a question, the JTC said that the transportation services to the chief guest of the event Ivanka Trump was provided by the US government with their own vehicles.
