Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Thursday instructed the officials to invite his Andhra Pradesh counterpart N Chandrababu Naidu to the five-day World Telugu Conference which begins on December 15 in the city.

At a review meeting on the arrangements being made for the conference with the officials at Pragathi Bhavan here, the Chief Minister listed out the prominent personalities to be invited to the conference. Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu, Mauritius Vice President Pramasivan and Maharashtra Governor Sri Ch Vidyasagar Rao would attend the inaugural function.

The Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister will also be invited to the programme. President Ramanath Kovind has already given his consent to attend as chief guest at the valedictory function. All Telugu speaking Chief Ministers and Governors will be included in the list of VIP invitees.

The Chief Minister examined the design of the main dais at Lal Bahadur Stadium and festoons and wanted the inaugural valedictory functions to be done on a grand scale. He wanted Hyderabad to be decked up for the occasion. Along with Telugu, to mirror Hyderabad culture, the conference will also organise Urdu mushairas and qawwali and felicitate those personalities who have been doing service for the development of Telugu music, literary and cultural fields.

He instructed officials to arrange proper travel, boarding and lodging facilities to the delegates coming from other States and countries. Chandrashekar Rao suggested that the proposed conference should be held amidst the Telugu literary personalities who are striving for the development and enriching of Telugu language and literature. Ministers T Harish Rao, Eatela Rajender, Government Chief Whip Koppula Eswar, Chief Secretary SP Singh and other officials were present in the meeting.
