Following the goof up at a Hyderabad hospital, two mothers are in a state of confusion over their new-born babies.

The medical staff at the Employees’ State Insurance (ESI) hospital in Nacharam mixed up the tags given to two new born babies on Wednesday leading to a chaos situation.

M Manisha, a resident of LB Nagar, gave birth to a baby boy at around 11 am. Within the short span of time, another woman, S Akhila, also gave birth to a boy.

The hospital staff gave name tags to the babies as per the procedure indicating, the parents name, time of birth, gender etc.

Akhila who was undergoing treatment for family planning didn't see her baby immediately. When she did, the tag on the wrist of the baby indicated the mother's name as Manisha. Following this, she raised an alarm and Manisha noticed the tag on the baby in their custody bore Akhila's name.

The hospital in turn, claimed that the babies were not swapped instead there was error in the name tags. However, the parents seemed unconvinced resulting the hospital take up the blood test of both the parents and the new-born infants.

With the blood tests remaining inconclusive, the hospital is now going for a DNA test and the samples are being collected on Friday. The parents are protesting against the negligence of the hospital authorities since the DNA results take at least 30 days and till then the confusion would remain.

For now, based on the partial determination of the blood test, the babies are being fed by Manisha and Akhila at the hospital.
