The Endowments Minister gave away a cheque for Rs 10 crore to the Andhra Bank Manager Ramana and also handed over cheques to some of the temple employees.

Hyderabad: Minister for Endowments A Indrakaran Reddy on Friday said that a new chapter began in the Endowments Department in the State as the government has started giving salaries to Archakas and temple employees through the treasury. The Endowments Minister gave away a cheque for Rs 10 crore to the Andhra Bank Manager Ramana and also handed over cheques to some of the temple employees.

The Minister said that December 1 was a historical day for the Archakas and temple employees in the State and added that the government was providing pay scales to the temple staff without any discrepancies. No other government in the State has taken a decision, which Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao had, he said.

The Minister said that expenditure required for giving salaries to the Archakas and temple employees would be Rs 115 crore and added that government had already sanctioned Rs 37.50 crore. He said that the government would take into consideration the revenues of the temples and it would allocate funds.

Indrakaran Reddy also thanked the sub-committee members and ministers T Nageswara Rao, T Srinivas Yadav, Naini Narasimha Reddy and J Krishna Rao for their role in sanctioning of salaries to the Archakas and temple employees. Speaking on the occasion, Government Advisor K V Ramanachary said that the Chief Minister has provided a solution to the long pending issue.

“December 1 for the Archakas is as important as June 2 for people of Telangana State ”, he added. He said that as per the promise, the salaries of temple staff and Archakas would be directly deposited into their bank accounts. He said that there would be problems during the initial days and added that the issues would be sorted out one by one.

Endowments Department Commissioner Shiva Shankar, Additional Commissioner Srinivas Rao, Regional Joint Commissioner Krishnaveni, Archaka Samakhya representatives led by president G Bhanumurthy and others were present on the occasion.
