Hyderabad: The Telangana State Backward Classes Welfare Association (TSBCWA) said on Saturday that the Backward Classes which accounts for half of the State’s population should get half of their due share in all the sectors.
At a meeting convened by the TSBCWA and attended by the presidents of 65 BC associations and leaders from 20 BC unions here on Saturday demanded that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao announce a BC declaration. The TSBCWA state president Jalula Srinivas Goud said the declaration should provide the plan of action of the State government for the welfare of the BCs in the State. He said that the meeting was held following the Chief Minister’s decision to hold talks with MLA and MLCs on the BC welfare on Sunday and to bring their demands to the notice of the government, he added.
The meeting demanded that the government extend financial assistance to the BCs to start industries and traditional vocations with 100 per cent subsidy and without any bank linkages. It also demanded that the government announce a BC Sub-plan with an outlay of Rs 20,000 crore and give legal protection to the same. It urged the Chief Minister to hold an all-party meeting to mount pressure on the Centre for providing reservations to BCs in legislative bodies. The meeting decided to a hold a massive public meeting by mobilising 10 people in Hyderabad to mount pressures on the government for implementation of its demands.
