Krishnaiah warns AP govt against 5 per cent quota for Kapus
Telugu Desam Party (TDP) State unit MLA and prominent BC leader R Krishnaiah warned the Andhra Pradesh government against releasing any government order with reference to its decision to provide 5 per cent reservations to the Kapu community.
Hyderabad: Telugu Desam Party (TDP) State unit MLA and prominent BC leader R Krishnaiah warned the Andhra Pradesh government against releasing any government order with reference to its decision to provide 5 per cent reservations to the Kapu community.
Addressing media here on Saturday, after a meeting with the leaders of various BC associations, Krishnaiah said he was first a BC leader than a TDP MLA and added that any attempt to let down the interests and welfare of the BCs will be fought tooth and nail. Rejecting that there is any need to resign his MLA seat won on the TDP ticket, he, however, said, “there will be hard decisions from the side of BCs, if the AP government goes ahead with its move.” He said the meeting was convened to discuss the situation arising out of the decision taken by the Andhra Pradesh government to provide reservations to the Kapu community and to chalk out a future course of action.
He said the Kapu reservations will adversely affect the welfare of the BCs in the fields of education and employment opportunities. “I am holding talks with the BC leaders on the issue. The decision may also open a door for other forward communities to demand reservations,” Krishnaiah said. He said the BC associations will knock the doors of the courts, to stall the move of the AP government, if it goes ahead by issuing a GO to implement reservations to the Kapu community.
