Hyderabad: LEA Associates South Asia during the 4th Technical Advisory Committee Meeting of Contextual Refinement and Revalidation of Comprehensive Transportation Study (CTS) for Hyderabad Metropolitan Area (HMA) submitted a report to Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority and Technical Advisory Committee of Alternative Scenarios and Alternatives Networks Options for HMA, Short Term Transport Plan (2026) and Implementation Strategy.
According to report submitted, HMA has approximately 5,000 kilometres of major roads carrying sizeable amount of traffic, 650 intersections are recommended in CTS 2011-14 for the horizon year 2030 of which 294 intersections have been identified for IAP 2021 and some intersections need immediate attention in terms of design and operation controls.
The report proposed cycle tracks leading to metro station to provide access to the nearby colonies and market. About 31 cycle tracks extending over the length of 116.3 km are identified around metro station. It has also proposed pedestrian, non-motorised transport facilities and relocation of 28 bus stops in six routes including Khairatabad- Miyapur, LB Nagar-Lakdikapul, ECIL-RK Puram, Habsiguda-Nacharam-NFC ECIL, Tarnaka-Moulali-ZTC and Afzalgunj-Falaknuma-Chandrayangutta.
To implement the 4th Technical Advisory Committee report for 2021, GHMC, HRDCL, HMRL, R&B, Cantonment and TSRTC will have to spend Rs 798 crore for traffic management corridors, intersection, cycle tracks, footpaths, relocation of bus stops and other facilities.
