This project is meant to solve water problems in seven old districts and supply of drinking water to Hyderabad, he said.

Addressing a review meeting today, the Chief Minister said there was plenty of water available in River Godavari and the Telangana State is planning to utilize its share of water and the Kakatiya project is the key among the projects being constructed to utilize the share of water. He spoke about the importance of the Kaleswaram project and explained the need for the re-designs.


The Chief Minister made a detailed survey of every construction activity from Medigadda Barrage to Gandhamalla, Baswapur. Since Kaleswaram project happened to be very crucial and the lifeline for Telangana, he said the project is given top priority. Hence the engineers and contractors should put their heart into the project and work. He wanted them to be careful from the foundation stage, maintain high standards and quality with coordination from all the departments concerned.
