Telangana-run schools are all set to hold various activities to promote Telugu among students ahead of the World Telugu Conference(WTC) which will begin from December 15-19.
Rs 50 crore has been sanctioned by the state government for the conference while each district will receive Rs 5 lakh literary competitions in all schools, colleges, and universities.

In the latest orders issued, it read, "All schools (govt/model schools/TRIES schools/KGBV/aided and private unaided) should try to create a festive atmosphere in their schools from December 15-19, 2017 by including quiz competitions, essay writing competitions, cultural programmes, elocutions, poetry writing competitions etc. for students in Telugu to promote its usage.”

Director of school education department G Kishan has called for extensive use of Telugu in the functioning of the department.
