Hyderabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President Capt. N. Uttam Kumar Reddy has hailed the election of Rahul Gandhi as the President of All India Congress Committee (AICC).

Uttam Kumar Reddy said Rahul Gandhi has emerged as a matured leader, a respectable politician and a person who wants to work for people's welfare. He said Rahul Gandhi has been actively working for the party since 2004 and handled several responsibilities in NSUI, Youth Congress and also served as AICC General Secretary and Vice President. With his immense experience, Rahul Gandhi would certainly revive and rejuvenate the Congress party across the country, he said in a media statement today.

The TPCC President said Rahul Gandhi belong to the Nehru-Gandhi family which gave several sacrifices for the country. Former Prime Ministers Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi even laid down their lives for the country. He said Sonia Gandhi refused the Prime Minister's post on three occasions and spent her life serving the common man.

Uttam Kumar Reddy expressed confidence that Rahul Gandhi would bring the Congress party to power in next elections. He said Rahul Gandhi has the potential to defeat communal and divisive forces and take the country on the path of development.

AICC Telangana Incharge Secretary Ramchandra Khuntia, TPCC Working President Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and other senior leaders have also welcomed the unanimous election of Rahul Gandhi as Congress President.

Meanwhile, led by ex-MP M. Anjan Kumar Yadav, Congress workers celebrated the occasion at Gandhi Bhavan by bursting crackers, dancing and distribution of sweets.
