Alleging that the TRS government is wasting taxpayer money worth Rs 50 crore under the pretense of the World Telugu Conference (WTC), Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) chief spokesperson Dr Dasoju Sravan on Tuesday said that the Conference was only to boost the image of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao.

Speaking to the media at the party’s headquarters, Gandhi Bhavan, he questioned the KCR’s change towards 'Telugu Talli' (Mother Telugu).

Mentioning that KCR had earlier proposed demolition of Telugu Talli statues in the state, claiming she had nothing to do with Telangana, Dasoju Sravan further questioned as to why the Chief Minister changed his stand and pointed out that TRS leaders had earlier objected to the conduction of World Telugu Conference in 2012.

The Congress leaders argued that the TRS government is utilizing WTC to impress others even though it had nothing to do with the promotion of Telugu language.

They even criticised KCR for ignoring eminent poets and writers of Telangana who played a pivotal role in Telangana movement, pointing out that poets and writers including Gadar, Vimallakka, Jaya Bheem, Tirumal Rao, Goreti Venkanna, Andeshri, and others were not even invited for the event.
