Be Indian Ambassadors in your Home Country: Governor tells Indian Diaspora

Hyderabad: Interacting with the 40 member delegation of young Indian Diaspora, who visited Raj Bhavan on Thursday, Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan said that the 'Know India Programme' organised by the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, provides an extremely useful exposure to the members to acquaint themselves with the Indian culture and heritage and said that they should act as India's Ambassadors after going back to their home countries.
The Governor further said that their visit to India gives them an opportunity to rediscover their Indian roots, multifaceted and multi-cultural heritage of the country. Governor said that both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana States are working to improve the happiness quotient of the people with emphasis on food for all and health for all concept. "Agriculture being the main contributor of economy of both the States, major thrust is being given to irrigation and power projects. Both the governments are making efforts to bridge the gap between and urban and rural populations by ensuring that the infrastructure facilities available in urban areas are replicated in rural areas also and curtail migration from villages to cities," he said.
Narasimhan also said that education without societal relevance and practical exposure makes it useless. He said education and health are important contributors to peoples' happiness and both AP and Telangana governments are implementing several programmes in this direction. Within next six months, Telangana government is going to provide potable drinking water at every door, said the Governor. He further said that in terms of developmental activities both the States are mirror images of each other.
The Governor further said that through implementation of Good Governance initiatives, Ease of Doing Business, single window system coupled with the technology, corruption in government transactions has been reduced to a great extent.
As part of the 44th 'Know India Programme' to connect the Indian Diaspora with their Indian roots, cultural heritage and economic transformation, 40 young persons consisting of both students and working persons from 9 countries are visiting Andhra Pradesh and Telangana states. The delegation visited Kondapalli village, Vizag Steel Plant, Sub Marine Museum in Andhra Pradesh and old and new city areas in Hyderabad city, T-Hub, Hitech City, Warangal etc. in Telangana. The delegation consisted of members drawn from South Africa, Guyana, Suriname, Fiji, Mauritius, Israel, Malaysia etc. Later the delegation went around the Raj Bhavan premises and visited the heritage structure, herbal garden, solar power plant.
Principal Secretary to Governor Harpreet Singh and Hyderabad Passport Officer E. Vishnu Vardhan Reddy also participated in the programme.
