In an encounter with Telangana Police, eight Maoists have reportedly been killed near Tekulapalli village in Bhadradri Kothagudem district in the early hours of Thursday.
The encounter began late on Wednesday night and is still on. Based on a tip-off regarding the Maoist movement of a Maoist dalam in the area, police began the combing operation which led to the encounter.
According to sources, the police confiscated weapons include an SLR, two 8 mm rifles and two SBBL guns along with eight kit bags.
The Maoists killed in the encounter were originally associated with the CPI-ML Janashakti group.
