Khammam: After ensuring continuous water supply for irrigation besides uninterrupted power for five days from next year, the government has taken another important decision to transform the State into a seed bowl by deciding to send 1,000 officials to Israel for an agricultural study tour. 

In this regard, 30 officials of Agriculture department from the district are gearing up for Israel visit, which will start by December end and continue till April next year.
Israel is well-known for its horticulture crops and modern methods it has adopted in the field of agriculture. Taking it as an example, the State government has decided to adopt the same methods to boost agricultural productivity.

As part of that, the government had decided to send nearly 1,000 officials in five phases from mandal to state-level to Israel for the study tour.

According to sources, State Agriculture Minister, Principal Secretary, Director and other important officials of the Agriculture department will visit the Israel in the first phase. They will study types of crops cultivated in the country besides making necessary arrangements for others who are going to visit in later phases.

In the second phase, district agricultural officials; in third phase, scientists from farmer training centres and BC Lab officials; in the fourth phase, the officials belonging to various constituencies and in the final phase, officials from mandals will visit the country.

Meanwhile, the officials who are selected for the study tour are busy making arrangements for passport, Visa and other requirements.

Anil Kumar, an agriculture officer said, “The State government is determined for the uplift of farming sector in the State by implementing various modern methods. It is striving for getting special recognition to the agricultural products produced in Telangana and is leaving no stone unturned to boost the sector by preparing special plans.”

Calling it a waste of money, the opposition leaders asked the government as to what was the need to waste crores of money in the name of study tour when the farmers were in need of crop loans, and support price for their produce. Several officials also visited Israel in the name of study tour. What is the new that these officials are going to learn? they questioned.
