Hyderabad: Vemulawada MLA Chennamaneni Ramesh on Friday said he would approach High Court and seek justice in the citizenship case and added he had confidence that he would get justice.

The Union Home Ministry had dismissed a review petition by Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) MLA Ch Ramesh on his citizenship. Reacting on this, the Vemulawada MLA said he had approached the High Court after the Home Ministry issued notices on August 31, 2017, on cancellation of his citizenship. The court asked the Ministry to take into consideration new evidences. He said that a 100-page reply was given to the Home Ministry.

Ramesh said he had requested the Ministry not to consider the inquiry report, which was one sided and with flaws. However, the Ministry took into consideration the same inquiry report, which even the legal experts had found fault with, he added.

“The rule of ‘living continuously for one year’ was brought forward again but this rule came into existence on February 25, 2009, which was after I got the citizenship (February 3, 2009). Hence it is clear that the rule of living in the country continuously for 365 days will not apply to me,” said Ramesh. Even after giving this information in the review petition, the Home Ministry had considered the earlier incorrect inquiry report, he added.

Ramesh said he had confidence that the court would do justice to him as he would be filing review petition.
