New Delhi/ Amaravati: AP Health Minister Kamineni Srinivas has expressed his pleasure at Andhra Pradesh and Telangana joining the national pool of NEET for the medical stream, which would benefit medical students manifold.

Speaking to the media here on Tuesday, Srinivas said the Centre had exempted Andhra Pradesh from Rule 371 D for the next academic year in this regard. The Telangana government too had agreed to the suggestion of the AP government and gave its consent in this regard to the Centre and hence, it became possible, he added.

Andhra Pradesh has 1,900 medical seats and even if it were to forgo 285 (15 per cent) seats, it would gain 16 times the number as students would become eligible to compete for 4,482 seats in the country.

As for the PG seats, Andhra Pradesh has 660 out of the 13,872 in the country and by joining the pool, AP students could now compete for 7,236 seats by forgoing just 330 PG seats. He said he would discuss Fatima Medical College issue with Union Minister J P Nadda.
