Hyderabad: The Postal Co-ordination Committee of National Federation of Postal Employees alleged that the Centre was taking anti-employee policies and decided to stage protests for five-days from February 12 to February 16 in New Delhi.

According to a press release issued here, Federation’s Telangana Circle Convener S S R A Prasad alleged that the Centre was taking many anti-employee policies and was trying to privatise the Postal Department.

He said the decision to give away the post-office small saving schemes to private banks proves that the Centre was trying to privatise the Postal Department. He said many employees are working under small saving schemes and if the private banks are given the responsibility, employees would become surplus and lead to retrenchments.

Prasad alleged that the Centre was doing injustice to the part time, casual, contingent employees by not implementing the sixth and seventh pay revision recommendations. He demanded that the government approve the five-day week routine for Postal Department on the likes of other Central government departments.

The Federation staged hunger strikes on November 28 and 29 in districts and maha dharna on Wednesday in all the State capitals. He said if the government fails to respond to their problems, they would stage dharna for five days from February 12 to 16 in New Delhi.
