Papillion-AFIS, CCTV help solve most of the cases of Rachakonda

Hyderabad: The use of Papillion-AFIS (Automated Fingerprint Identification System) technology and installation of 10,000 CCTV cameras had helped the Rachakonda Commissionerate to solve about 40 per cent of the cases registered during 2017, said Mahesh Bhagwat, Commissioner of Police, Rachakonda. He was addressing the annual pressmeet for the year 2017 which was held at fifth floor of Swagath hotel conference hall at LB Nagar.

Mahesh Bhagwat told The Hans India, “All the CCTV cameras installed in the commissionerate area were connected to the control room. We have made it mandatory for the residents to submit footage for every 15 days to our police station. Besides conducting decoy operation on the field, we are also conducting online operation to track cybercrime and zero out the crime in our commissionerate, he added

By the year end, the Rachakonda Commissionerate registered 20,487 cases. Out of which, 3,002 were property disputes cases, 16 robbery cases, 208 chain snatchings and 63 attention diversion offences. Besides these, the SOT conducted different raids and 835 gutka cases, 33 PD act cases, 18 drugs related cases were booked.
