Hyderabad: Telangana Joint Action Committee Chairman Prof M Kodandaram on Thursday stated that the World Telugu Conference was not organised on the expected lines.

Addressing a press conference here, Kodandaram said the Conference had failed to show an action plan to develop the Telugu language in Telangana. “Telangana has a special accent and there has been no effort to save this accent.

There was a need to organise the meeting better than earlier meetings, but this need was forgotten. Most unfortunate thing was to ignore the poets who fought for Telangana like Gaddar, Vimalakka, Andesri, Mitra and others. The arrest of Virasam writers shows the intolerance of the government,” he added. The conference was like strengthening the united Andhra sentiment, he alleged.

The JAC Chairman demanded that the government call an all-party meeting on the tussle between the Scheduled Tribes (STs). The two sections should resolve the issue with mutual understanding and violence should be avoided. Government is not concentrating on the issue. It is not fair to make the officials responsible for the issue, he said. The government should safeguard the rights of the provided by the Constitution.

The JAC would start its two-day Amarula Spoorthi Yatra in Nalgonda district from Friday. The Yatra would begin after garlanding the statue of Srikantha Chary at 8: 30 am at LB Nagar Crossroads. Later, the yatra would take form of a road show and reach Choutuppal where the leaders would garland the statue of Chakali Ailamma.

The JAC yatra would pass through Munugodu, Chityala, Narketpally, Nakrekal and reach Nalgonda in the evening where a public meeting would be held at MG College Grounds. The yatra would reach Huzurnagar- Kodada and Suryapet on Saturday.

Kodandaram demanded that the government withdraw cases imposed against MRPS president Manda Krishna Madiga and other activists. The government should keep its promise of taking an all-party delegation to New Delhi, he said.
