ABVP stages protest
Akhila Bharatiya Vidhyarthi Parishad (ABVP) on Friday staged a protest before Osmania University Vice-chancellor S Ramachandram’s chamber in the university. The ABVP demanded that the Vice-chancellor resign from his post and take the moral responsibility for the postponement of 105th Indian Science Congress scheduled to be held in the first week of January.
Hyderabad: Akhila Bharatiya Vidhyarthi Parishad (ABVP) on Friday staged a protest before Osmania University Vice-chancellor S Ramachandram’s chamber in the university. The ABVP demanded that the Vice-chancellor resign from his post and take the moral responsibility for the postponement of 105th Indian Science Congress scheduled to be held in the first week of January.
ABVP termed that the postponement had lowered the reputation of the university. The protestors said the university had declared 45 days of holidays for the students in the name of the ISC causing irreparable loss during the academic year.
The ABVP Central Committee member M Ravindra said the university had already paid about Rs 5 crore towards advances, ticket fares and printing material for ISC. The protestors demanded that the university and the State government authorities convince the Indian Science Congress Association (ISCA), during a scheduled meeting on December 27, to hold the ISC at the university.
