Hyderabad: The Telangana State government has submitted to the High Court at Hyderabad in a sealed cover compact discs (CDs) containing the videography of post-mortem of nine Naxalites killed in police encounter at Medamadugu village under Tekulapally mandal in Bhadradri Kotthagudem district on December 14.

The court after receiving the CDs directed the State government to file a detailed counter to the affidavit filed by the petitioner seeking a probe into the encounter by an independent investigating agency.

The division bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Ramesh Ranganathan and Justice G Shyam Prasad gave these directions on Friday, while hearing the PIL petition filed by Civil Liberties Committee president Gaddam Lakshman seeking constitution of a Special Investigative Team (SIT) to probe into these wanton killings by security forces of cadre belonging to CPI(ML) Chandra Pulla Reddy group. He also sought registering of murder charges against the police officers concerned under Section 302 of IPC.

During the previous hearing the bench had directed the State government to submit videography of post-mortems to the court. Telangana Additional Advocate General J Ramchandra Rao submitted the sealed cover containing the CDs to the bench.

The counsel for the petitioner V Raghunath alleged that the nine persons were picked up by the police and shot dead in close range. He said one youngster Srinivas was abducted by the police, while he was going on his bike in front of his house. He requested the bench to give direction constituting SIT to probe into these killings.

The bench directed the State government to file detailed counter affidavit and adjourned the case by three weeks.
