According to the reports, the senior leader surrendered owing to health issues.

In what is seen as a major jolt to the Maoists party,

Jampanna, who hails from Torrur mandal of Mahabubabad district, is learned to be suffering from health-related issues and could no longer play a key role in the party activities.

Having been part of the Maoist party for the past 35 years, Jampanna is a member of the party's central committee and carries a reward of Rs 20 lakh.

He is expected to be produced before the media on Sunday in the presence of director general of police M Mahender Reddy.
