KCR balking at SC categorisation: Uttam

Addressing a meeting at Gandhi Bhavan on Saturday evening, Uttam Kumar Reddy strongly condemned the arrest of Madiga Reservation Porata Samithi (MRPS) leader Krishna Madiga. He alleged that Krishna Madiga's arrest was illegal and aimed at suppressing his voice.
The Chief Minister had promised to take an all-party delegation to the Centre to pursue the issue of SC categorisation. KCR, however, neither took the all-party delegation nor had he made any attempts to resolve the categorisation issue. Further, he said Krishna Madiga was arrested on false charges and sent to jail just to suppress his voice.
Welcoming hundreds of Osmania University students who joined the Congress party on Saturday, the TPCC chief recalled the role played by students during Telangana statehood movement. He paid rich tributes to those who laid down their lives and also those who sacrificed their careers for the sake of separate State. He alleged that the present TRS government has completely ignored those sacrifices and all benefits of Telangana State were being extracted only by KCR family.
He exhorted students' community to join the struggle against anti-people policies of TRS government. He condemned the TRS government for cancellation of National Science Congress at OU. He said the cancellation of such a prestigious event has badly hurt the image of Osmania University, Hyderabad and the entire Telangana State.
He alleged that the event was cancelled at the instance of the Chief Minister. He said KCR has been trying to portray students of OU in bad light and the cancellation of National Science Congress proves the inefficiency of the TRS government. The meeting was attended by ex-MP V Hanumantha Rao, AICC Secretary Madhu Yakshi Goud, ex-MLA Marri Sashidhar Reddy and other leaders.
Rich tributes paid to PVNR
Earlier in the day, Uttam Kumar Reddy visited PV Ghat and paid rich tributes to former Prime Minister P.V. Narasimha Rao on his 13th death anniversary. Speaking on the occasion, he recalled the services rendered by Narasimha Rao as the Chief Minister, Union Minister and finally as the Prime Minister of India. He said it was Narasimha Rao who revived the Indian economy and by introducing major economic reforms he took the country on the path of growth and prosperity. He said it was PVNR's vision which turned India into an economically strong nation.
Uttam Kumar Reddy also recalled his association with Narasimha Rao and said had met the then Prime Minister several times while he was serving in the Rashtrapati Bhavan. Former Chief Minister K Rosaiah, Congress leaders K V P Ramchander Rao, V Hanumantha Rao and other leaders were also present.
