TPCC president opines Panchayat polls are dress rehearsals for 2019 general elections

Hyderabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president N Uttam Kumar Reddy has exhorted party leaders and activists to take Panchayat Raj elections, to be held next year, very seriously as they are like dress rehearsals for the 2019 general polls.

Addressing a meeting of booth-level workers at Aler in Yadadri-Bhongir district on Sunday, Uttam asked the Congress workers to focus on strengthening party at booth-level. “Forthcoming Panchayat Raj elections will be a major test for all political parties and its results will have an impact on next Assembly elections,” he said, advising every Congress worker to vigorously take the party's message to people.

“You should be armed with facts and figures of how TRS government failed to deliver on its promises,” he advised party workers.

The TPCC chief further accused Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao of cheating all sections of people by not honouring the promises that he made to them. “Ask people to judge KCR government based on fulfilment of promises and its performance. Even after 40 months, poor Dalit families did not get three acres of land, Muslims and STs are still awaiting 12 per cent reservation and BCs remain neglected under TRS regime and have inadequate representation even in the State cabinet,” he said.

“In view of elections, KCR is now talking about BC welfare and sub-plan. It is a clear indication that KCR's next target for cheating are the BCs. Congress workers should meet people with the complete list of failures of TRS government,” he said.

The meeting was also addressed by ex-MLA Bhikshamaiah Goud, TPCC Chief Spokesperson Dasoju Sravan, K Anil Reddy, Teenmar Mallana, Lingam Yadav and Pramod.
