Bhadrachalam: Heavy rush of devotees was witnessed at Sri Sita Rama temple here on Sunday from the two Telugu States and adjoining places. Their presence is being attributed to three holidays declared by many organisations from Saturday.

In view of the heavy rush, devotees faced hardship in securing accommodation. Owners of private lodges hiked room charges.

Serpentine queues of devotees were seen at the temple from 5 am onwards on Sunday. Separate queue lines were arranged by the temple authorities for the Lord’s darshan. Many devotees performed ‘Arjitha Seva’ to the Lord. Priests performed ‘Abhishekam’, which is usually offered every Sunday in the main temple in the early hours.

Meanwhile, there was heavy rush also at the Papikondalu tourist spot, the starting point of Pocharam village in East Godavari district. Taking advantage of the presence of tourists, agents offering packages hiked the ticket price.
