Hyderabad: The BJP national unit, which has focussed its attention on southern states and wants to make Karnataka Assembly as its gateway to south, has decided to declare an electoral war against TRS from January.

Congress has nothing new to offer to the people of Telangana and TRS has lost the confidence of the people, they will be rejected in this state as they are being rejected everywhere in India, the state BJP feels.

Political circles say that this is a clear indication that the BJP may go in for early elections. The party high command has told the Telangana unit to take up agitations and protests against the failures of the TS government from January. There is every possibility of BJP national president Amit Shah would visit Telangana and review the programmes to be taken up by the state unit and will give necessary directions to the state unit. According to BJP state president K Laxman, the BJP will not have any kind of alliance with any party and would come to power on its own as people were disappointed with the performance of the TRS government.

"BJP rose to historic strength by coming to power in 19 states across the nation. For the first time, BJP has more state governments than what Congress once had under Indira Gandhi’s leadership”, he said during a media interaction on Tuesday.

Laxman said though BJP currently has a strength of only five MLAS in the 119-member House, it has party base in about 150 assembly constituencies in the state to checkmate the main opposition Congress gaining ground and to fight against the ruling TRS on its home turf.

The party has decided to allocate one party worker for every five to ten households, under each polling booth. The party workers will keep in touch with the members of the households allocated to them and would take up a campaign to explain about various welfare and developmental initiatives taken by the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre. This would include the details of hand-holding done by the Centre as part of its “Sub ka Vikas, Sub ka Saath” policy. BJP is the only political party in the state which has mandal-level presidents in about 150 assembly constituencies, Laxman added.

He said the BJP has also decided to take on the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) in the Old City. The AIMIM has failed to develop the Old City and people from all sections were unhappy with the “Owaisi brothers”, and were looking towards the BJP to come their rescue, he added.
