Hyderabad: Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has come up with a new plan to discourage open urination in the city. The civic body implemented the ‘Lathi-Seeti’ (Stick-Whistle) across different areas in the city.

Earlier, GHMC had persuaded hotels, restaurants, and petrol bunks to construct toilets in their premises for public use, which benefited the citizens.

Municipal officials are keeping a strict vigil at places where open urination is observed frequently by employing a person. The municipal worker keeps vigil holding a stick and whistle. GHMC official claims that this kind of vigil had given good results in the past.

Earlier, municipal officials constructed 135 built over toilets, 109 free fabricated, 46 sulabh complexes, 57 engineering toilets, 20 she toilets, 20 community toilets across the city. Apart from this, the civic body workers painted the walls in city where open urination observed.
