The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has launched another initiative - the 'Laathi seeti' campaign.

The initiative arms several GHMC sanitation workers with the two objects to halt people from urinating in the open.

Several sanitation workers began doing the rounds on the inaugural day of the campaign stopping the public and even point them to the closest toilet.

However, a GHMC sanitation worker was manhandled in Rajendranagar Circle when he tried to stop a cab driver who was urinating in open area.

A case has been registered against the driver under section 323 (voluntarily causing harm) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

A fine of up to Rs 200 can be imposed for open defecation or open urination according to the GHMC Act.
