The metro rail authorities had extended the services till 2:30 am to provide 'safe travel' to people on the New Year’s Eve. However, people turned up at the stations even after the said time prompting the authorities to continue services till 2:45 am on Monday.
A total of 1.07 lakh commuters traveled by Metro rail on Sunday.
The authorities revealed that even though 6,000 people traveled in the late night/early morning Metro trains, no untoward incidents took place as the passengers were well behaved.
