The longest elevated expressway in the country, PV Narasimha Rao Expressway is all set to get an extension. Efforts are on to extend the PVNR Expressway from Aramgarh to Shamshabad and the decision is part of a set of key projects to facilitate smooth flow of traffic in different areas in and around Hyderabad.

The longest elevated expressway in the country, PV Narasimha Rao Expressway is all set to get an extension. Efforts are on to extend the PVNR Expressway from Aramgarh to Shamshabad and the decision is part of a set of key projects to facilitate smooth flow of traffic in different areas in and around Hyderabad.

While the foundation for the nearly Rs 1,000 crore flyover from Uppal to Narapally will be laid shortly, Rs 2,900 crore has been sanctioned to construct a steel bridge, flyover and elevated rotary among other projects.

Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) will look into few projects and the National Highways Authority of India will be executing the PVNR Expressway extension.

According to a senior official from GHMC, the Expressway will be extended by about nine to 10 kilometres with not much of land acquisition required keeping in view the increasing traffic and also make the journey to Shamshabad airport faster.

Pre-cast structures will be utilized for the works to avoid any inconvenience to road users.

Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister KT Rama Rao stated that the focus was on improving road infrastructure and ensure to avoid traffic issues in the city.
