Telangana inaugurated first of its kind in the whole of the country National Park for Special Needs - the Louis Braille Park for persons with disabilities at the BN Reddy Nagar, Nalgonda crossroads today.

Municipal Administration and Urban Development minister KT Rama Rao inaugurated the park and also unveiled the statue of Sir Louis Braille at the event with Hyderabad Member of Parliament (MP) Asaduddin Owaisi and Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) commissioner, Janardhan Reddy garlanding the statue.

Telangana Deputy Chief Minister, Mohd. Ali, Mayor Bonthu Rammohan, minister Nayini Narasimha Reddy also participated in the programme.

KTR addressed the gathering at the park and congratulated GHMC for developing it.

Developed in an area of 1.03 acres, the park aims to create a barrier-free environment for persons with disabilities along with providing them with facilities like physiotherapy, medicinal plants, and other recreational material.

Built at a cost of Rs 1.77 crore, the park has two zones - recreation and therapy with features including therapy block, sensory theatre, lawns and centers for art, music therapies, amphi-theatre, and counseling.
