Hyderabad: BJP State Legal Cell has decided to pitch in to fight against the anti-people policies of the State government and to play a key role in the protecting the democratic rights of the citizens in the State.

The State level meeting held here on Saturday is attended by the party MP Bandaru Dattatraya, BJP Legislature Party Leader in the State Assembly G Kishan Reddy, MLC N Ramachander Rao, legal cell convener Narasimha Reddy and advocate members of the cells.

Speaking at the meeting, party MLC N Ramachander Rao stressed the need for further strengthening the legal cell. “The TRS is not interested in the bifurcation of the combined High Court and it was a TRS person who had filed a case on this issue in the court,” he alleged.

The efforts made by the legal cell resulted in the Centre responding positively over the issue and agreed to create a separate state High Court for Telangana State, he said. He criticised the State government for not forming the districts courts after reorganising the districts in the State. Besides, he also asked the legal cell to question as to what happened to the Rs 100 crore Advocate Fund announced by the State government.

Kishan Reddy, while appreciating the activities of the cell, said that the State was under an undemocratic rule against the spirit of the movement for the creation of a separate Telangana. Those raising their voices against injustice had been sent to jails. For this, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao had been getting laws enacted that suited to secure his party’s interests. Sending farmers in the Mallannasagar and Khammam to jails were the two incidents that reflected the undemocratic functioning of the TRS government, he said.

He appealed to the members of the legal cell to extensively use the RTI Act to take on the autocratic functioning of the TRS government in the State and take up issues of people’s interest. Bandaru Dattatraya praised the publicity campaign taken up by the women’s members of the cell in creating awareness on Triple Talaq issue. He also appealed to them to help the farmers who were not getting adequate compensation from the government in the land acquisition cases.
