Bhongir: It is common knowledge that monkeys normally create troubles to people. But in Sharajipet village of Aler mandal in Bhongir-Yadadri district, a small monkey accidentally joined a sheep flock and soon became a member. It is even donning a watch dog’s role.

Shepherd Parvatalu of Sharajipet, who has about 100 sheep, said a child monkey had joined his sheep flock one month ago and it stayed there despite his efforts to send it away.

After a couple of days, the monkey started playing with the sheep and follows the sheep, which grazes on the outskirts of the village. The monkey watches the sheep on their way while going and returning, like a watch dog. It threatens if anyone tries to come near to the sheep while they are grazing or in the shed.

Surprised by the monkey’s behavior, people of surrounding villages are flocking to Sharajipet village to have a look at the monkey.

The shepherd, Parvatalu, speaking to The Hans India said that the monkey had joined his flock accidentally and he tried to send it away but in vain. A local villager, Yadaiah, said, “After hearing about the monkey, I tried to enter the shed of the sheep. But the monkey screamed loud and tried to attack me.”
