Hyderabad: The Telangana Tourism Department will organise ‘Hyderabad Literary Festival’, an international event, from January 26 to 28 on the Hyderabad Public School premises at Begumpet.

According to the Tourism Secretary B Venkatesham, the event would be attended by over 15,000 visitors. He said the festival had come to represent the cultural and artistic ethos of the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad as well as the vibrant culture of modern Cyberabad.

The objective of the festival is to promote the brand image of Hyderabad as a city of creative energies. The festival brings some of the finest creative minds in India and abroad to the city every year.

The event would be attended by 150 speakers, writers, artists, scholars, filmmakers, journalists and publishers representing a wide range of creative fields participating in each edition.

The National Geographic Traveler mentioned the festival as a ‘must attend’ event in January, he added. HLF had a unique feature as each year HLF invited a foreign country to showcase its literature art and culture. Germany, France, Ireland, Poland and Singapore were the guest nations at the festival, he added.

Venkatesham said the speakers from over 12 foreign countries would address the festival on the occasion. He also said guests including Amala Akkineni, Arun Shourie, Gaddar, Javed Akhtar, Mahesh Bhatt and so on would attend the literary festival.

He also said they would pay tributes to the legendary artistes like Girija Devi, Shashi Kapoor, Tom Alter and Gauri Lankesh. The main focus on language of the event this time would be Kannada, he added.
