Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister (Education) Kadiam Srihari on Wednesday announced that the Telangana Government would soon fill 8,000 vacancies of teachers in Gurukul schools in the State.

Speaking after inaugurating the Telangana Residential Schools Inter-Society Sports League 2018 at Gachibowli, the Deputy CM said that teachers would join their services by the end of this month.

Kadiam also said that Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao was providing free and quality education to poor students. He said that the education sector in Telangana was best in the country. He said there are 546 Gurukul Schools, 475 KGBV and 194 models schools across Telangana State which are imparting free education to nearly 8 lakh poor students. In Gurukul schools, he said the State Government was spending Rs. 1.02 lakh per annum on each student. He said the facilities being provided in Gurukul schools were so high that even international or corporate schools could not match them.

Telangana Sports Authority Chairman Venkateshwar Reddy, Social Welfare Gurukul Schools secretary R.S. Praveen Kumar, Minorities Welfare Gurukul Schools secretary Shafiullah and other senior officials were also present on the occasion.
