Hyderabad: The Fire Superintendent of GHIAL’s (GMR Hyderabad International Airport Ltd) Airport Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) will be honoured with “Sourya Pathakam,” the Telangana State Award for bravery by the government for rescue operation at Shamshabad during a building fire which occurred on June 14, 2017.

This is for the first time that this prestigious State award is being bestowed upon a non-government official, GHIAL’s ARFF, Dharamvir Singh.

On June 14, the 39-year-old Dharamvir Singh led the crew after fire engulfed the Anupama hotel at Shamshabad. The Telangana State Disaster Response and Fire Services (TSDR&FS) team was already there, doing the external fire-fighting of the building. However, they were running low on water.
