Hyderabad: Telangana Government is seeking financial assistance from Japanese firms to expand the prestigious Hyderabad Metro Rail project in the second phase.

Speaking to media persons at the State Secretariat on Monday, Advisor to Government Gaddam Vivekanand, who had accompanied IT Minister K. Tarakarama Rao in South Korea and Japan tour, said that their tour was quite successful. He said meetings were held with the top entrepreneurs of those countries and many of them have agreed to invest in Telangana. He said that the investors found the policy of Telangana government quite attractive compared to other states in the country. However, he said that the quantum of investment coming to Telangana could not be defined as those figures are being worked out.

Suresh Chukkapalli, Consul General of the Republic of Korea in Telangana, NVS Reddy, Managing Director of Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited and other officials were also present.

Meanwhile, NVS Reddy said that the first phase of Hyderabad Metro Rail would be completed partly by June-July this year and remaining portion by November this year. For the 2nd phase of Metro Rail, he said steps have been initiated to seek funds from the Japanese financial Institutions.

Korea Consulate in Hyderabad soon
Suresh Chukkapalli informed that South Korea Consulate office was ready for opening anytime or by next month. He said that they are waiting for Ambassador of Korea to India and whenever he gives time, it will start functioning. He said the South Korea consulate will help in facilitating cultural exchanges, education, business, research and innovation, promotion of Industries etc.,
