Hyderabad : Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president Capt. N. Uttam Kumar Reddy has accused the TRS Government of completely ruining the education system in the State.
He was speaking after releasing the dairy and calendar of Telangana State Teachers' Federation (TSTF) at Gandhi Bhavan on Tuesday. TPCC Working President Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, MLA T. Jeevan Reddy, ex-minister Sunitha Laxma Reddy, TPCC Treasurer Gudur Narayan Reddy, ex-MLC A. Narsa Reddy and other leaders were also present on the occasion.
Uttam Kumar Reddy said teachers and students have played an active role in the formation of Telangana. They were quite hopeful that the formation of Telangana would change their lives and careers with new opportunities at every level. However, he said that Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao has disappointed everyone and with his wrong policies, he not only ruined the entire education sector, but also shattered the dreams of teachers, students and youth. He said TRS came to power on the promise of providing KG to PG free education. Even after three-and-a-half years, he said there was no clarity on what the Chief Minister meant by KG to PG free education. TRS Govt did nothing for improvement or strengthening of education sector and in fact, with his wrong policies, KCR has pushed the entire education sector into deterioration, he alleged.
The TPCC chief said that the TRS Government could not conduct DSC even once. While thousands of aspirants are waiting to get appointed as government teachers, lakhs of jobless youth are waiting for recruitments. He said of over 2 lakh vacancies in various departments of government, so far, only 7,000 vacancies have been filled. He said that the TRS Government has been committing mistakes after mistakes and daringly attempting to cover them up with new announcements. He said the delay in filling vacancies was badly affecting the prospects of thousands of youth who have put their careers at stake during Telangana movement. He said that the TRS Government did not even resolve the problems of government teachers who participated in the Sakala Janula Samme. He said that the TRS Government did not give due importance or recognition to teachers and students who participated in Telangana statehood movement.
Uttam Kumar Reddy announced that the Congress party would fully support the agitation against the new Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS). He said after coming to power in 2019 elections, the Congress Government would restore the old pension system. He also assured that the next government will also upgrade the Pandit Posts. Stating that the Health Cards issued by the present TRS Government was not working properly and not being accepted by many corporate hospitals, he said that the next Congress Government would introduce an effective health care system wherein the employees and their dependents will get complete free treatment without spending a single rupee and without any hassles.
The TPCC chief also assured that the next Congress Government would fill all the vacancies, create new opportunities for lakhs of youth and also provide Rs. 3,000 monthly allowance to all unemployed youth.
Later, a delegation of DED candidates met Uttam Kumar Reddy at Gandhi Bhavan and requested them to raise their problems in the next session of Legislative Assembly and Council. Members of Telangana Auto Workers Association also met the TPCC Chief and briefed him about the problems being faced by them due to increase in license fee and other charges by the RTA and the negative of App-based cab service providers. Uttam Kumar Reddy assured that the Congress party would raise these issues in the next session.
