Hyderabad: Chief Secretary S P Singh on Tuesday instructed the Metro Rail authorities to make arrangements for the introduction of electric vehicles and improvement of feeder services for the metro train which is operational on the 30-km stretch between Miyapur-Ameerpet-Nagole.
The official held a meeting with Principal Secretary to Roads and Buildings department Sunil Sharma, Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL) MD N V S Reddy and other officials of Telangana State Road Development Corporation.
The Chief Secretary instructed the officials to conduct a quick study to get the feedback from Metro Rail commuters, do station-wise mapping with frequency details and match the frequency of RTC feeder services and metro trains and provide end-to-end connectivity for commuters.
Singh also reviewed the progress of works for phase-I Metro Rail project. He asked the officials to complete the works by the end of this year and commission the balance portions of phase-I, i.e., the stretches between Ameerpet and L B Nagar (16 km) of corridor-I; Ameerpet and Hitec city (10 km) of corridor-III; and JBS to MGBS (9 km) of corridor-II in a phased manner starting from June this year.
The HMRL officials were asked to initiate preparatory activity including conducting surveys for determining the broad contours of Metro phase-II expansion programme and preparation of Detailed Project Reports (DPRs), so as to approach Central government for sanction of Metro phase-II.
For this, he emphasised on the need for a coordinated action plan duly involving Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA), Collectors of Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy, Sangareddy and Medchal districts and other senior officers concerned.
