With pilgrims thronging at Sammakka Saralamma shrine almost entire year, The State government had decided to develop Medaram as permanent tourist destination by bringing up several infrastructure facilities.

According to the officials, the State government had already brought up Haritha tourism hotel with Rs 7.5 crore and tribal museum with Rs 2 crore.

Deputy Chief Minister Kadiyam Srihari said the tourists are coming to Medaram all along the year hence it has been decided to develop Medaram as permanent tourist attraction. He said that the government would bring up amphitheatre, tribal museum, food court, cottages for VIPs etc.

The Museum would showcase the story of Sammakka and Sarlamma, he said. He further said that about 10 cottages would be constructed for the VVIPs coming to Medaram. Apart from this permanent accommodation would be provided for the pilgrims visiting Medaram.

Talking on the arrangements in place for the jatara, Srihari said,an entire area of 100 acres had been divided into 40 sectors and each sector would be headed by one official and assisted by officials of other departments. He said that importance is given to hygiene as over 3,000 workers have been deployed for clearing the garbage during the festival days.

There would be 60 medical teams with expert doctors, medicines and 108 ambulances. The district administration had completed all the arrangements. The Minister said that SingareniCompany had decided to provide 10 Lakh water bottles. Similarly, 10 Lakh water bottles would be provided by TSGENCO and five Lakh by TSRTC.

The Minister informed that helicopter service is provided from Warangal district. He said the police officials would administer the traffic with 400 CCTV cameras and also with their staff on the road and ensure there is no traffic jam. About 1.20 crore pilgrims are expected to attend the largest tribal conglomeration in the country after KumbhMela in Uttar Pradesh.

Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao would visit Medaram on February 2. Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu and Governor E S L Narasimhan would also visit Medaram.
