Telangana Police officers caught having extramarital affair, suspended

A woman police officer and a Sub-Inspector were suspended on Tuesday after they were allegedly caught having an extramarital affair.

The suspension orders of Additional Superintendent of Police with the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), D Sunitha Reddy and Circle Inspector Y Mallikarjun Reddy were issued by Home Minister N Narasimha Reddy.

In a statement, the Minister said that they have been suspended as their activities had brought a bad name to the Police Department and further stated that action will be taken against police personnel found tarnishing the department's image.

Ms Sunitha's husband Surender Reddy and family members had allegedly caught her in the act with the Circle Inspector at their place in Kukatpally on Monday.

Following this, the family members hit Mr Mallikarjuna Reddy, who is also married, with slippers of which a video went viral on social media.

It is learned that Mr Surender suspected his wife's affair with Mr Mallikarjuna and even warned Ms Sunitha on several occasions.

Mr Surender has filed a complaint based on which the police registered a case of trespass, adultery and criminal intimidation against Mr Mallikarjun.
