Telangana is rolling out a red carpet welcome to the investors who evinced interest in coming to the state. On the sidelines of World Economic Forum, IT & Industries Minister KT Rama Rao met Anand Mahindra, Chairman of Mahindra Group and CP Gurnani CEO & MD, Tech Mahindra in Davos. 

Hyderabad: Telangana is rolling out a red carpet welcome to the investors who evinced interest in coming to the state. On the sidelines of World Economic Forum, IT & Industries Minister KT Rama Rao met Anand Mahindra, Chairman of Mahindra Group and CP Gurnani CEO & MD, Tech Mahindra in Davos.

Giving a major boost to the IT sector in two-tier cities, Tech Mahindra will open a center in Warangal. Minister KT Rama Rao thanked Anand Mahindra and CP Gurnani for agreeing to set up a Tech Mahindra’s Center in Warangal.

Telangana Government has been making efforts to promote Warangal as the next best destination in Telangana after Hyderabad. In order to generate employment opportunities for educated youth in rural areas, Telangana Government has consistently been promoting Tier 2 cities. Earlier, the State government has sanctioned Rs 25 crores to establish Information Technology (IT) Tower in Karimnagar and also proposed to set up IT park in Khammam.

Recently, the government has decided to set up an Information Technology Hub in Nizamabad district at a cost of Rs. 25 crores. A similar set up is also planned for Mahabubnagar too.

KTR and his team also met Richard Ambrose, EVP, Lockheed Martin at Telangana Pavilion. Th Minister explained about how Telangana is fast emerging as the Aerospace and Defense hub of India. H said that Hyderabad based component manufacturers provided crucial components to the ISRO Mars mission.

Minister asked Richard Ambrose to evaluate Hyderabad for setting up Lockheed Martin’s Space business facility.

The Telangana delegation also met Nikolina Angelkova, Minister of Tourism, Republic of Bulgaria, at the CII-DIPP Pavilion in Davos. Both the sides discussed mutual cooperation in innovation space through startup exchange programs and also promotion of Tourism industry. He also met Gautam Adani, Chairman of Adani Group at WEF Congress Center in Davos. Discussions centered around prospective investments in the state.

Later in the day, KTR met Kito de Boer, Managing Partner, The Abraaj Group, at Telangana Pavilion in Davos. Abraaj group is a private equity fund, which has over 17 offices spread across five regional hubs in Istanbul, Mexico City, Dubai, Nairobi, and Singapore. He met Susan Silbermann, President of Pfizer Vaccines.

During the meeting, Rama Rao informed that Telangana is a global leader in Pharma and Healthcare sectors. He gave an overview of Pharma City, Genome Valley and Medical Devices Park. The Minister explained about Telangana's leadership role in vaccine manufacturing sector and invited the Pfizer group to consider Telangana for their operations.

In another meeting with N. Chandrasekharan, Chairman of Tata group, the Minister discussed the further growth opportunities in Telangana.

KTR met Henk de Jong, EVP & Chief of International Markets, Philips and explained the advantages Telangana state has for manufacturing medical devices and consumer electronics.

The Minister invited Philips group to send their team to evaluate the state for their investments. He had a meeting with Rongfang Yin, from Trina Solar which is the world's biggest solar panel maker. He explained about the growing share of clean energy in Telangana and how the state is an ideal location for solar panel manufacturing.

In a series of meetings at the CII-DIPP Pavilion at World Economic Forum, Telangana business met with a line of Business heads including Rahul Bajaj, Chairman of Bajaj Group, and Pawan Munjal, CEO of Hero MotoCorp Ltd.
