Hyderabad: Telangana Tourism Department has come up with a new type of accommodation in the form of luxury tents with all modern amenities to attract forest and nature lovers during the famed Medaram Sammakka Saralamma Jatara.

During the Medaram Jatara, 46 modern tent campsites would be created on platforms. The luxury tents comprising of two beds and a toilet on a 16x16 size will be set up on 46 platforms. Tourism and ITDA official Chakradhar Rao said the management of luxury tents would be handed over to private organisations and they would be manned by tribal youth.

The tents are available on hourly and daily basis. The tents can be booked online and the catering etc could be organised through the Haritha outlet brought up at Medaram. The tribal hotspot of Sammakka and Saralamma Jatara was going to be accessible for spiritual tourists and also students of research and anthropology henceforth, he said.

He said that if successful, the tents could be continued in the future by the Tourism Department to attract tribal lovers and adventure tourists to the jungles of Eturunagaram on a regular basis.

Besides the luxury tents, the district administration is also encouraging private enterprises to put up barricaded tents, bags and chappal stand for common man’s use all around Medaram forest belt. The barricaded tents which would appear like refugee camps are all temporary sheds for tribals and also non-tribals.
