BJP restored people’s faith in politics: Sambit Patra
BJP National spokesperson Sambit Patra said that politics in the country is witnessing a new trend with the emergence of BJP-led NDA government, headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, at the Centre.

He delivered the first endowment lecture established in the name of former Governor of Sikkim V Rama Rao organised by Sri Gopala Rao Thakur Memorial Trust on ‘The Imperative of Value-based Politics: Bridging the Gulf between the Percept and practice’, here on Friday.
He said the people used to hate the very sight of politicians during the earlier Congress regime due to series of scams tumbling down from the cupboards day in and day out during UPA-II regime. However, after the BJP under the leadership of Modi has ascended to the power people were now reposing their faith in the political leadership of their country.
He said that leaders like V Rama Rao had led a life of simple living and high thinking standing true to the ideals to serve the welfare of the people throughout his life.
Sambit Patra said that spiritual leaders, medical professionals, judiciary and political authority are always in the eye of scrutiny as these professions were attached with the highest value of moral principles.
Any fault on their part of would have devastating consequences. For politicians, the highest ethical practice was to serve the welfare of the people without any discrimination in terms of religion, caste, creed, gender and the like. If these values were given up then the consequences would have serious repercussions over the people, society and entire nation, he pointed out.
For this, the BJP spokesperson recalled that the “Pursharthas” propounded by the Vedas though like “Dharma, Artha, and the Kama “(justness, wealth and desire) should be practised by those in the politics. However, unfortunately, leaving Dharma, wealth and desire had become dominating factors which would not only ruin the politicians but would also have undesirable consequences, he pointed out.
Though ‘Moksha’ is a later addition to the Pursharthas, the politicians should also learn from it, “when to give up’, instead of clinging to power and their seats. It was only when these ethical notions are practised that a leader or politicians will be free from the fear and act with a clarity of thought to serve for the welfare of his people, he said. Earlier, former Union Minister Bandaru Dattatreya, State BJP president K Laxman, BJP MLA G Kishan Reddy and several others spoke.
