Hyderabad: Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) MPs decided to corner the Narendra Modi-led NDA government in Parliament on Central assistance to various programmes in the State.

The TRS MPs decided to raise their voice in the budget session of Parliament starting on Monday. The TRS has been supportive of the NDA government and assisted the Central government on various occasions. However, with the Centre allegedly not giving enough funds to the State government, the MPs decided to lodge their protest in Parliament.

The MPs would raise the issues of the State including fulfilling the promises made in the AP Re-organisation Act. The TRS leaders said the government should accord national project status to the Kaleshwaram Project and expedite division of High Court. The government would also seek funds for the road network in the State.

Mahbubnagar MP A P Jitender Reddy said the Centre was adopting negligent attitude towards Telangana in terms of releasing funds under various programmes. “Till now, we have given issue-based support to the Centre but now we have decided to change our strategy.

There is a need for giving more cooperation to the State, which is progressing rapidly with 18 per cent growth rate,” said Jitender Reddy. The MPs would also seek clarity on increasing the number of Assembly constituencies as promised in the AP Reorganisation Act.

Jitender Reddy alleged that the Centre was not releasing funds for programmes like Rashtriya Maadhyamik Siksha Abhiyan, Pradhan Mantri Sadak Yojna, Swachh Bharat, Smart City, National Health Mission and others. He said they would seek Central assistance and also wanted clarity on the proposed All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS).
