Telangana State sanctions 181.88 lakh for drinking water needs

Mahbubnagar: In view of drinking water problem in the coming summer, the State government had approved an administrative sanction of Rs 181.88 lakhs under the Community Public Water Supply Scheme (CPWS) for meeting the drinking water needs of erstwhile United Mahbubnagar district.

Minister for Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Jupally Krishna Rao, while speaking at Zilla Parishad general body meeting with people’s representatives of Mahbubnagar, Nagarkurnool, Wanparthy, Jogulamba Gadwal, Ranga Reddy and Vikarabad districts said, “Mahbubnagar as already facing lot of drinking water shortage, we started preparing in advance to address the possible severe water shortage crises in Summer and a comprehensive action plan is prepared to ensure early repairs of old pipelines and begin the construction of new pipelines under Mission Bhageeratha as early as possible to meet the water crises effectively in summer.

And accordingly, we had prepared a detailed proposal estimates, sent to the government and got administrative approval of Rs.181.88 lakhs under CPWS scheme,” he said. As per the district’s reorganisation the CPWS scheme is being managed and run successfully by Operations and Maintenance (OM) across all the regions of erstwhile Mahbubnagar.
