Hyderabad: Tension has gripped some of the TRS MLAs over the possible early elections and also in the wake of the Chief Minister's latest survey on their performance. The survey report will be handed over to the MLAs at TRSLP meeting scheduled to be held in a week.

According to sources, the Chief Minister is likely to convene TRSLP meeting along with the Parliamentary Party leaders within a week. There are indications that the Centre might go in for early elections and in such a case the TRS, too, is ready to face the elections whenever they are held, it is learnt.

The MLAs, whose performance was reportedly not up to the mark during the last survey, are said to be in panic mode. Sources said the Chief Minister had survey conducted by commissioning three different agencies and it was said to be more authentic as over 10 lakh samples were taken. Though the Chief Minister has assured the MLAs that all the sitting MLAs would get tickets, the leaders are not sure whether it was possible because of controversies surrounding some legislators.

Some of the MLAs were involved in tussle with the officials and also with the party leaders. There was controversy over alleged misbehaviour an MLA in Adilabad district with the Collector. Similarly, recently an audio surfaced where an MLA from Mahbubnagar used abusive language against a villager.

In some of the constituencies, the ruling party MLAs and senior leaders have locked horns with each other. Recently, the Karimnagar district public representatives had adopted a resolution, seeking suspension of MLC R Bhoopati Reddy for involving in tussle with the local MLA in his district. The Chief Minister had warned of action against the MLC during the previous Legislature Party meeting.

Sources said that the first-timers are more worried because they fear that their rivals from TDP and Congress parties, who joined TRS, might come into their way. Sources said the Chief Minister may opt for a strong candidate in place of the existing one. “There are some constituencies where TDP has good support but TRS won in 2014 but this time the opposition member may gain some support in such case, the leaders joining from other party with higher chances of winning may get ticket,” said a TRS leader.

Sources said the Chief Minister would give a road map to the MLAs on what to do and how to prepare for elections during the Legislature Party meeting. However, the MLAs are tight-lipped on the survey reports. Sources said this would be the last survey by the Chief Minister before the next elections and hence the MLAs are expecting good marks from the people in their constituencies.
