Hyderabad: BJP Mahila Morcha demanded that the State government immediately release funds toward interest-free loan scheme. Addressing at the ‘Mahila Yuddha Behri’, organised by the Morcha here on Friday, party MP Dattatreya said the State government was neglecting women’s welfare and empowerment in Telangana.

He found fault with the government for failing to contain the growing atrocities against women in the city and across the State. BJP State president Dr K Laxman said the Yuddha Bheri was just a beginning and the party had decided to fight in a big way on the issues related to women’s welfare and empowerment in the State. Stating that there was not a single Cabinet berth given to women by Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, he said it reflected the importance given to women by the ruling party.

Similarly, the Chief Minister had promised to allocate double-bedroom houses and the Centre was ready to fund 1.5 to 2 lakh housing units. Yet, the government was not able to construct the double-bedroom houses, except in Yerravalli and Gajwel, he said.

Laxman demanded that the government immediately release Rs 1,300 crore to women under the interest-free loan as promised by him. He also said that Chandrashekar Rao had promised Golden Telangana. But, the State was becoming a “Madya Telangana”, with liquor flowing in every village, he said.

Party national general secretary Saroj Pandey said that the Centre had given sanctions under the Pradhana Manthri Awas Yojana to the State. However, the State had failed to deliver on its electoral promise of providing free housing to the poor. Saroj Pandey asked the party women to fight for their rights to force the government to fulfill the promises made to the women in the State.

Mahila Morcha president Akula Vijaya said, “Chandrashekar Rao has made false promises in the name of Golden Telangana to get power. But, once in the government, he did nothing to the women,” she said. Party MLA Ch Ramachandra Rao said the HUDCO had sanctioned Rs 12,000 crore loan, but, the State government had failed to fulfill its promise of double bedroom houses.
