Telangana to bring in new law to deal with building plan violations: KTR

IT Minister KT Rama Rao on Friday launched the 66th National Town and country planners congress 2018 by Institute of Town Planners.

The event had Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Mayor Bonthu Rammohan, GHMC commissioner G. Janardhan Reddy and others in attendance.

The three-day conference to be held from February 2nd to 4th is the apex body of qualified professional town and country planners.

Based on the theme "Urban Environmental Planning: Consequences and Challenges”, the conference focuses on the Environmental challenges of urbanization, Urban flooding, Environment and development plans.

Speaking at the event, KTR said that half of the country’s population will be living in the cities by 2030. Claiming India was developing very fast all over the world with people pouring into the cities in search of employment, education and better living conditions, the Minister reminded that the Telangana government had carved out 21 new districts for better administration.

He stated the government is also contemplating to bring in a new law against building plan violations. Calling out the lack of coordination between the Registration offices and Municipal Corporations, KTR warned the builders to follow the new norms and not to deviate from the sanctioned building plan.
